On May 21, 2005 the Historical Society held its "2nd Annual Appraisal Fair" at COD Community Education Center from 10:00am-1:00pm. Appraisals were $10 per item - Maximum of 2 items per person. Those who gathered were educated and entertained by appraiser Mark Valle of Chicago who has the specific education, years of experience as an appraiser and antique store owner. The 'award' of the day for the most valuable piece went to Gerri Bird who had a Tiffany lamp base, found by her father-in-law who dug it up literally with a backhoe. Precious items from dolls and crystal to paintings and books were brought by residents.
